For 2022, the Ford F-150 gets an available Black Appearance package for the XL, XLT, Lariat, and Platinum trim levels. The Bed Utility package is a standard feature on the King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited trims, and it’s now optional on the XL, XLT, Lariat and Tremor. It comes with locking cleat-style tie-downs and a tailgate step.

The F-150 is offered in three cab styles: regular, SuperCab (extended) and SuperCrew (crew cab). There are three bed lengths — 5.5 feet, 6.5 feet, and 8 feet — depending on which cab style you choose.

Six engines are on offer:

• 3.3-liter V6 putting out 290 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque
• Turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 generating 325 hp and 400 lb-ft
• 5.0-liter V8 making 400 hp and 410 lb-ft
• Turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 developing 400 hp and 500 lb-ft
• Turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 making 450 hp, 510 lb-ft (Raptor)
• A hybrid powertrain with the turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 and an electric motor that combine to generate 430 hp and 570 lb-ft

Each powerplant is matched to a 10-speed automatic transmission and gets rear- or four-wheel drive, except Raptor, which gets standard four-wheel drive.

As you’d expect, the best fuel-economy figures come from the hybrid powertrain, which delivers 25 mpg city/26 mpg highway with two-wheel drive and 24 mpg city/24 mpg highway for models with four-wheel drive.*

Towing capacity is impressive. The base 3.3-liter V6 can pull 8,200 pounds. Choose the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6, and that number jumps to an incredible 14,000 pounds. The 2022 F-150 has a maximum payload capacity of 3,250 pounds.

Standard features for the base XL trim level include 17-inch steel wheels, single-zone air conditioning, manual mirrors and windows (SuperCrew models get power windows), trailer sway control, pre-wired trailer connections vinyl flooring, an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Driver assistance features that come standard include lane departure warning and forward collision mitigation.
